Buyer's guide · 2026

Product demo software, sorted by the kind of demo you need.

Product demo software is three categories wearing one name — interactive demos, demo video, and sandboxes. This guide sorts the tools by type and compares the interactive ones on dated price and capture.

How this guide is made

Published plans, documented features, linked sources — not a hands-on test

Every price is read from the vendor's public pricing page on August 24, 2026 and recalculated per year on annual billing. Capture methods and plan features come from the same pages; complaints are quoted from named reviews and interviews with a link. We have not run the same demo through every tool and do not claim to. We make Tellane, it is listed under the same rules as the others, and its “not for” list is as long as anyone's.

'Product demo software' covers three different products. Interactive demo tools capture your product and publish a clickable walkthrough. Demo video tools record or generate video. Sandbox and demo-environment tools clone the product so a buyer can use it. Most searches for the term want the first kind — a demo for a website or an email — and that is where this guide spends its time; the other two get a short section so you can rule them in or out.

Before comparing tools

The questions that decide it

Where will the demo live?

Website, pricing page, email, review site → interactive. Support article, executive summary → video. Technical evaluation → sandbox.

Who drives it?

The buyer alone → interactive or video. A seller on a call → presenter-mode tools (Walnut, Storylane Premium) or a sandbox.

What do you need back?

A view count → any. Which step each buyer reached and a lead with the drive attached → interactive tools with analytics and lead forms (Tellane, Storylane Growth, Navattic Base, Arcade Growth).

Run it yourself

How to evaluate in an afternoon

An afternoon settles which kind of demo software you need, and usually which tool. The checklist:

  1. Decide where the demo will live first — website, email, review site, sales call — because that decides the kind (interactive, video, or sandbox) before any vendor comparison.
  2. Write one eight-step script for your core workflow and reuse it in every tool you try.
  3. For the interactive kind: capture the script in two free plans and time each to a published link.
  4. For the video kind: record the same script once and compare what each tool lets you do with the file.
  5. Embed the results on a draft page and drive them on a phone.
  6. Price your seat count against the table above; check which plan actually includes the lead form or CRM sync you assumed.
  7. Show both to someone outside the project and ask which they finished.

FAQ

Questions

What is product demo software?

Software for showing a product to buyers without a live presenter: interactive demo tools (clickable captures), demo video tools, and sandbox platforms.

What is the best product demo software for lead generation?

An interactive tool with lead forms and analytics: Tellane (lead forms on a $39 seat), Storylane Growth, Arcade Growth, Navattic Base.

What about product demo video software?

Loom records the quickest; Supademo and Storylane produce a video and an interactive demo from the same capture; Consensus assembles video demo libraries for sales. If the demo's job is a website or a review listing, the interactive kind converts the click — keep video for overviews and support.

What software records a product demo?

Any screen recorder (the OS recorder, Loom, OBS) records one. The demo tools in this guide go further: Supademo records in 4K with interactive steps, and Tellane slices a recording into stops you annotate. See the recording guide linked below for the setup.

Is this guide based on hands-on testing?

No — published pricing (dated), documented features, linked sources. We make Tellane.
