Pick by situation

The short answer

You want a flat price, monthly billing, and lead forms without the $500/mo tier

Tellane

Growth is $39–49 per builder seat with unlimited lanes and viewers; lead forms, prospect links, and full analytics are on the base plan.

You need HTML capture and your team is 5–10 people

Navattic

HTML on every plan, including free; the editor gets the easiest-to-learn reviews in the category. Annual billing only.

You have 2–10 editors and price is the only criterion

Arcade

Growth covers up to 10 seats for $50/mo, HTML included. No named support contact, AI on credits.

You record more video than you click

Supademo

4K recording and a strong screenshot editor; five demos free. HTML only from $350/mo.

Sales runs the demo live on calls

Walnut

Presenter mode and editable data; from $575/mo annual, no free plan.

Buyers must type real data into the product

Demostack

A cloned environment, not screens. Quote only.

Why people look

Why teams search for a Storylane alternative

Storylane is the most complete tool in this list — three formats, AI voiceovers, hubs — and the search for an alternative usually starts with the bill. The free plan stops at one demo; Starter covers unlimited screenshot and video demos but gates HubSpot and Zapier behind a second seat; and the things marketing teams actually buy a demo tool for — lead forms, personalization tokens, HTML capture — sit on Growth at $500/mo (annual) for five seats, $100 for each seat after. Arcade's teardown of Vendr data puts the median Storylane contract at about $11,500 a year. The second reason is the editor: reviewers like the output and describe the step-by-step building as slower than they expected.

Switching

Moving from Storylane

  • Storylane has no demo export that another tool can import — screenshot demos are rebuilt, not moved. Plan an afternoon per demo, not a migration project.
  • Re-capture with the Tellane Chrome extension: press Start, click through the same flow, and every click becomes a stop. Titles and copy paste across; hotspots take a click each.
  • Leads and analytics stay in Storylane. Export your leads as CSV before the renewal date; Tellane's leads page imports nothing, so keep the file.
  • Replace the embed: Storylane's embed snippet becomes Tellane's iframe snippet on the same pages. Old prospect links die when the Storylane account does — mint new ones and resend.

FAQ

Storylane alternatives — questions

Is there a free Storylane alternative?

Every tool on this page except Walnut, Demostack, Reprise, and Consensus has a free plan. The limits differ: Storylane and Navattic allow one demo, Arcade one demo with a watermark and no analytics, Supademo and Guideflow five demos, Tellane one published lane with seven days of analytics.

Is there an open-source Storylane alternative?

Not a complete one. Open-source product-tour libraries — intro.js, Shepherd, driver.js — add step overlays inside your own app; they do not capture your product into a shareable, trackable demo. If you have engineering time and only need in-app tours, they are free; for a demo on a website or in an email, you need a capture tool.

Which Storylane alternative is cheapest?

For one seat, every flat-priced tool lands within $60 a year of each other (Guideflow $420, Supademo $456, Tellane $468, Storylane Starter $480, Arcade $510, all annual). For five seats, Arcade is the outlier at $510 a year for up to ten people; Guideflow, Supademo, Tellane, and Storylane Starter sit between $2,100 and $2,400; Storylane Growth, Navattic, Consensus, and Walnut start around $6,000–$7,200.

Does Storylane have a Chrome extension?

Yes — it captures screenshots on every plan and HTML on Growth and above. Navattic, Arcade, Supademo, Guideflow, Walnut, and Tellane all capture through a Chrome extension as well.

Can I import my Storylane demos into Tellane?

No. No tool in this category imports another's demos. You re-capture the flow with the extension, which takes about as long as clicking through it.
