Interactive demo software, compared by what you pay and what you can build.

Nine interactive demo tools — Tellane, Storylane, Navattic, Arcade, Supademo, Guideflow, Walnut, Consensus, Demostack — compared on published price at 1 and 5 seats, capture method, free plan, and who each is for. Dated, sourced.

How this guide is made

Published plans, documented features, linked sources — not a hands-on test

Every price is read from the vendor's public pricing page on August 24, 2026 and recalculated per year on annual billing. Capture methods and plan features come from the same pages; complaints are quoted from named reviews and interviews with a link. We have not run the same demo through every tool and do not claim to. We make Tellane, it is listed under the same rules as the others, and its “not for” list is as long as anyone's.

Interactive demo software captures your product as screenshots or HTML, lets you annotate a guided path through it, and publishes the result as a link or embed that prospects click through without an account. The category sits between video tools (Loom, Vidyard), which record, and in-app onboarding tools (Appcues, Userpilot, Pendo), which overlay guidance inside the signed-in product. This guide covers the standalone, shareable kind.

Before comparing tools

The questions that decide it

Will buyers click, or type?

If they click through, screenshots are fine and every tool qualifies. If they must type into fields or see live data, you need HTML capture (Navattic, Walnut, Storylane Growth, Arcade Growth, Supademo Growth, Guideflow Growth) or a sandbox (Demostack, Reprise).

Who builds, and how many of them?

Seat pricing decides the bill. One marketer: everything under $520 a year. Five editors: Arcade $510, Guideflow $2,100, Supademo $2,280, Tellane $2,340, Storylane Starter $2,400, then a step to $6,000+ for Storylane Growth, Navattic, Consensus, and Walnut.

Do you need the lead, or just the view?

Lead forms and personalized links are on Tellane Growth ($39/seat), Arcade Growth, and Storylane Growth ($500/mo). If you need them, Storylane Starter and Supademo Scale are not enough.

Website, or sales call?

Website and outbound: Tellane, Storylane, Navattic, Arcade, Supademo, Guideflow. Live calls with editable data: Walnut, Demostack, Reprise, Storylane Premium.

Can you commit to a year before seeing a price?

Navattic, Walnut, Consensus, Demostack, and Reprise are annual and (mostly) sales-priced. The rest bill monthly and show the number.

Run it yourself

How to evaluate in an afternoon

You do not need a bake-off project to pick a demo tool. Every shortlisted vendor with a free plan can be tested against your own product in one afternoon; here is the checklist to run.

  1. Write the eight-stop demo you actually need — one workflow, one outcome — before opening any tool. The script stays constant; only the tool changes.
  2. Sign up for two or three free plans from the shortlist (none needs a card) and capture the same eight screens in each with the vendor's extension.
  3. Time each from first capture to published link. The spread between tools is usually larger than any feature difference.
  4. Open each published demo on your phone. Hotspot reachability on a small screen is where captures differ most.
  5. Check the analytics each free plan actually records for your test drives — some record nothing.
  6. Price your real seat count and the features you need (lead form? branching? HTML?) against the table above, not the headline price.
  7. Send the best two links to a colleague who has not seen the product and watch where they stop.

What this guide leaves out, and why

  • In-app onboarding tools (Appcues, Userpilot, Pendo, WalkMe)They run inside your product for signed-in users. If the viewer has not signed up, you need a demo tool.
  • Screen recorders (Loom, Vidyard, Screen Studio)They make video. A video is watched; an interactive demo is driven and measured step by step.
  • Open-source tour libraries (intro.js, Shepherd, driver.js)Overlays for your own app, not a capture-and-share tool.

FAQ

Questions

What is the best free interactive demo software?

Depends on the limit you care about. Supademo and Guideflow allow five demos; Navattic allows one HTML demo; Tellane allows one published lane with seven days of analytics; Storylane one demo; Arcade one demo with a watermark and no analytics.

Which interactive demo tool is cheapest?

For one seat, Guideflow ($420/yr), Supademo ($456), Tellane ($468), Storylane ($480), Arcade ($510). For a team, Arcade ($510/yr for up to ten seats).

Do I need HTML capture?

Only if buyers type into the demo or you edit captured text often. For a click-through on a website, screenshots look the same in the player.

Is interactive video software the same thing?

No. Interactive video adds clickable overlays and quizzes to a video — mostly an education and training format. Interactive demo software captures your product's screens into a click-through a buyer drives. If the viewer should click the product's own buttons, you want the demo kind.

Which interactive demo software is best for marketing teams?

Marketing usually needs lead capture, embeds, and a funnel: Tellane ($39/seat with lead forms and per-stop analytics), Arcade Growth ($50/mo for up to ten seats), or Storylane Growth ($500/mo with personalization and A/B tests) — pick by budget and whether HTML matters.

Is this guide based on hands-on testing?

No. It is built from each vendor's published pricing page (dated on the page), documented capture methods and plan features, and linked review sources. We make Tellane and say so; the rules are the same for every row.
