Glossary
Product demo.
A product demo is any presentation of a software product's capabilities to a prospective buyer — live on a call, recorded as a video, or interactive and self-driven.
Also: software demo · sales demo
The three forms differ in who controls the pace. A live demo is controlled by the seller and adapts to questions in real time. A recorded demo plays at the speed it was recorded, to everyone. An interactive demo is controlled by the buyer, who clicks through at their own pace and, in branching demos, chooses the route.
Sales teams use all three across a cycle: an interactive or recorded demo to qualify interest before a meeting, a live demo for discovery and objection handling, and an interactive leave-behind after the call for the buyer to share internally.
A good demo of any form shows an outcome the buyer cares about, not a tour of menus. The common failure is starting at the login screen and ending before the part that sells.
In Tellane: Tellane makes the self-driven kind and measures it; the live kind still happens on a call, usually after a buyer has driven a lane. See how →
