Hotspot.
A hotspot is the highlighted, clickable marker placed on a demo screen that tells the viewer where to click next; the tooltip is the text attached to it.

Hotspots carry the demo. Placed on the control a real user would click, with a tooltip that says what the viewer gets rather than what the button is called, they make a demo feel like using the product. Placed on a small icon in a corner, they are the commonest reason viewers stop.
Most tools let a hotspot be a pulse, a box around an element, or a callout with an arrow, and let the tooltip hold a title, a sentence, and sometimes an image or a button.
In Tellane: Click anywhere on a stop's screen to place the hotspot; the tooltip takes a title and one or two sentences. Signal orange is reserved for hotspots so viewers always know what is clickable. See how →
