Template · Product demo checklist
Product demo checklist.
A checklist for shipping a demo that holds up — the account, the screens, the copy, the placement, the gate, the CTA, and the weekly read of the funnel.
Use when: Before publishing any demo, and again each quarter when you refresh it.
The one line
What this demo proves
The demo is short, believable, findable, and measured.
Stop by stop
8 stops
| # | Screen | Action (hotspot) | Tooltip |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Before capture | Outcome written in one sentence; audience named; stop list of 6–10 lines | No capture without a script. |
| 02 | The account | Demo account with plausible names, dates, numbers; one window size; notifications and chat widgets closed | Buyers read the data. |
| 03 | Each stop | Hotspot on the control a real user would click; tooltip says what they get, one sentence | If a stop needs two sentences it is two stops. |
| 04 | Structure | 'Aha' screen by the midpoint; branch only where audiences diverge; lead form past the midpoint or not at all | Homepage demo open. |
| 05 | The end | Last stop's CTA set to the next step: sign-up, pricing, or the calendar | Now for people who know the product fits. |
| 06 | Publish | Open the public link in a private window; drive it on a phone | What you see is what a buyer gets, badge and all. |
| 07 | Placement | Embedded above the fold on the product page; beside the plans on pricing; linked from the old 'book a demo' button | Where the decision happens. |
| 08 | After a week | Read the per-stop funnel; fix the stop with the biggest drop; change one thing; compare next week | Then re-capture any screen the product changed. |
