How to personalize a demo for each account.
What demo personalization actually is — a greeting, a route, and attribution per account — how prospect links do it without rebuilding anything, and where the honest limits are for screenshot and HTML tools.

The short answer. A personalized demo is the same demo wearing the account's name: a link minted per prospect that greets them on the first screen, routes them down the branch that matches their role, and attributes every view and click to that account. You do not rebuild the demo per prospect — you build one lane per persona, then mint a link per account in seconds. Personalizing the captured screens themselves (their logo in your product's UI) is a separate, heavier capability that needs HTML capture; a greeting and attribution deliver most of the reply-rate difference at none of the cost.
The three layers of personalization
- The greeting: the demo opens with the account's name — cheap, visible, and the difference between 'a demo' and 'your demo' in an inbox.
- The route: a branch at stop two ('I run ops' / 'I run finance') lets one lane serve every persona in the account.
- The attribution: every drive on the link belongs to the account, so the seller sees who opened it, how deep they went, and where they parked.
What you build once, and what you mint per account
Build one lane per persona — the ops story, the finance story — with the branch and the CTA in place. That is a one-time job. Per account, mint a prospect link with the company name and domain: seconds, not an afternoon. The email then carries one short sentence and the link; the lane does the explaining, and the follow-up is written from what they actually clicked.
Where the honest limits are
In a screenshot-captured demo, the captured screens themselves are images — the prospect's logo will not appear inside your product's UI, and the account name lives in the greeting and the framing, not in the pixels. HTML-capture tools (Storylane's personalization tokens on Growth, Walnut, Navattic) can swap text inside the captured pages, and enterprise sandbox tools go further with per-deal data. If in-pixel personalization is the requirement, that is the tier of tooling it takes; most outbound programs find the greeting-plus-attribution layer is what actually moves replies.
Measuring whether it works
- Open-to-drive rate per link — did the account click through at all?
- Depth and parking stop per drive — what did they care about, where did they stop?
- Completed drives by target account — with an alert the moment it happens, so the follow-up lands the same day.
- Reply rate on emails with a personalized link versus without — your own A/B, not a vendor benchmark.
In Tellane
Mint a prospect link from the share modal with the account's name and domain; the lane greets them on the first stop, the analytics page lists every link with its drives and outcome, a lead from that link is tagged with the company even on a personal email, and the lane-completed alert emails you (and posts to Slack) when a target account reaches the end.
